We’re on a mission to plant 200 trees in 2023
Confirm an event in one of our partner hotels and we’ll support the planting of five trees through our partnership with the Future Forest Company.
The Future Forest Company’s mission is to plant enough trees to remove 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by 2030, restore biodiversity and fight climate change.
To help them, we’re aiming to plant 200 trees in 2023 and each event you organise with us gets us five trees closer to our target.

Why we’re doing this
The UK Government has legislated to achieve a 50% emission reduction by 2030 and net zero by 2050 in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.
The events industry has a critical role to play in the journey to net zero, and we want to play our part. One example of how we already do this is by only promoting hotel companies that are committed to more sustainable business practices.
But we want to take even more responsibility and proactively remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, help restore biodiversity and fight climate change.
Is planting trees the best solution?
Whilst planting trees that can remove carbon from the environment is beneficial, it’s better to reduce our emissions in the first place.
We are already taking steps to do this, such as choosing a green host for our website which cools its data centres with wind energy from Danish wind farms, and choosing only to represent hotels that have policies in place to reduce and / or better manage their energy consumption and emissions.
Planting trees, when done correctly, is an effective way of sequestering carbon from the environment that is nevertheless created through our own actions and those of the industry we are a part of.
And by investing in projects such as reforestation, we will also be helping to restore biodiversity.
Where we’ll be planting trees
Each time you organise an event in one of our hotels, you’ll be contributing to the reforestation of various locations across Scotland including Dumyat, the Glenaros Estate, Leadloch and Brisbane Mains.
The Future Forest Company only plants trees native to the region such as Birch and Rowan, and their tree planting scheme is verified by Scottish Forestry. Our donations will also support the nursery care of the trees that are planted.
What does it cost you?
It won’t cost you a penny.
We’ll cover 100% of the costs as part of our own commitment to take more responsibility for the elimination of carbon emissions and rebalancing the carbon impact of our industry.
In fact we’ve committed to investing up to 1 per cent of our annual profits into environmental projects.
